Why Has Hytale Not Released Yet? Updated June 2022

Backstory

Some have lost the excitement that they initially felt when they first watched the timeless Hytale trailer in 2019, but we hope that those of you that are taking the time to read this article still feel the anticipation as we near the long-awaited release. We are sure that the Hypixel team have come too far to give us an underwhelming game, and we have extremely high hopes for the team to offer us a complete, feature-full, and robust game.

The hype around Hytale has likely been a valuable lesson for the Hypixel team, the amount of popularity and publicity the trailer received must have been unexpected. The team likely dreamt for the trailer to receive the publicity it did, but shortly felt overwhelmed by the sheer scale of which they were reaching. It must be hard in the development process to find the sweet spot where you can begin to market the game, whilst continuing to work on and perfect it, especially when the marketing brings in 60 million keen players, not even mentioning the backing from Riot Games.

What we Know About the Release

The team have learnt from previous experiences that providing their future users with hollow release estimates often end in disappointment, which is a lot less desirable than meaningless excitement. Although the team have not been publishing blog articles and development updates anywhere near as frequently as they were back in 2020, it's best to keep optimistic and assume they're just working hard on giving us Hytale as soon as possible! In their 2021 Summer Development Update, the team states:

"What has become increasingly apparent is that we have several more years of work ahead of us before Hytale is ready to launch. We don’t want to provide another estimated launch window that turns out to be incorrect. However, we no longer expect to be ready to launch Hytale before 2023 at the earliest, and it could very well take longer."

It's safe to say with their previous release date catastrophes, they're not going to make the same mistake again. We can say with confidence that Hytale will release in 2023, with a possibility of being 2024. The team can't afford to lose the respect of their fanbase, knowing another rushed release date would upset a lot of people.
