It is debatable if a Cave Rex falls under animal or monster. Either way, this creature is hostile and is best to approach with caution.
Much like it's relative, the Raptor, the Cave Rex has bio-luminescent characteristics which are assumed to help the creature see in dark caves. We speculate that other cave inhabitants will also have bio-luminescent characteristics.
If the Cave Rex scares you, it is best to avoid the caves of the Devastated Lands as this is where you will find them.
In concept art, Hytale suggested the Cave Rex could be encountered in the lowest level of the Devastated Lands, also known as the Forgotten Jungle (Level 4).

It has been confirmed that Cave Rex's will be found in the underground jungles of Zone 4, and I'd consider these more of monsters than animals. Just something I thought I'd add! :)

It really bears little resemblance to the real T-Rex, I think it might be a monster. If you have watched Jurassic World you will agree with me.
